JOB SUMMARY

True North Outpost is an outdoor adventure fueled business with a serious desire to support and empower our community of adventurers. For many of our customers this is their first time in our gym and possibly the U.P and we want them to fall in love with both. 

Our Climbing Gym is in need of a motivated, down to earth associates who love working with customers in the climbing gym to provide a fun and safe experience.

We provide a high energy, flexible and fun work environment with all the tools and support you will need to succeed.  

Climbing Gym Associate responsibilities include overseeing and assisting rock wall users in order to maintain participant and facility safety, while ensuring the customer has all the tools they need to have as much fun as possible while staying safe.

SUMMER SEASON DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

•       Open and close the gym and perform associated opening and closing duties depending on shift

•       Monitor participants climbing activity to ensure safety policies are being adhered to

•       Provide a welcoming and customer service oriented environment for staff and participants

•       Provide participants with information about climbing gym routes, grades and advice.

•       Assist individuals with climbing equipment

•       Offer users advice on how to improve their climbing skills and techniques

•       Know and enforce policies and procedures

•       Maintain climbing equipment, holds, mats and hardware.

•       Clean gym as required on a daily basis

•       Conduct daily inspections of the climbing wall, surrounding area and equipment

•       Maintain the climbing gym lost and found

•       Take money and check in customers online, in person and on the phone.

•       Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned – Help with loading and unloading of equipment, Outdoor maintenance, Grounds work... etc.

 

 WINTER SEASON ADDITONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

•       Open and close the store access to the bathroom and perform associated opening and closing duties depending on shift

•       Clean the bathroom daily

•       Assist in moving snow on customer walkways.

 

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

•       Assist with hosting group climbing events, and parties.

•       Setting boulder climbing routes and wall maintenance.

•       Facilitating instructional climbing classes

 

HOURS AND PAY 

·      Seasonal work: May – October with potential for winter season work:  November – April.

·        12-30 hours a week with a maximum of a 30 hour work week.

·        $12.00 Hourly

 

 

CLIMBING GYM ASSOCIATE SKILLS 

•       Climbing and gym work experience is preferred

•       Awareness of safety concerns and risk management involved with climbing

•       High school diploma/GED is preferred

•       High-energy, friendly personality and good work ethic.

•       Good customer service and communication skills

•       Basic addition and subtraction skills

•       Willingness to become subject matter expert

JOB SUMMARY

Our retail store is in need of a motivated, down to earth Retail Sales and Reservation Associate who loves working with customers to book their adventures and to help them find the products they need.

If you like working in a supportive environment and you are dedicated to helping provide a one of a kind positive experience for our customers this may be the place for you. 

We provide a high energy, flexible and fun work environment with all the tools and support you will need to succeed.   As a member of our team you can expect to have the following responsibilities.

RESPONSIBILITIES

·        Greet customers when they walk through the store or come to the check in desk.

·        Ask customers about what they are up to that day (their adventure).

·        Build rapport through conversation and honest recommendations.

·        Ring up sales and handle check in for climbing gym passes, canoe, kayak, paddleboard & bike rental.

·        Upsell extra items when appropriate, TNO gear, stickers, food and beverage, etc.

·        Invite customers to browse the store, check out the climbing gym, or visit our website for info and events.

·        Take reservations on the phone, and online for rentals and climbing packages.

·        Take money, make change and facilitate the signing of our online waivers.

·        Stock items and keep the store clean (i.e. checking the bathrooms, floor and upstairs community room.

·        Open and close the store and perform cleaning duties depending on shift.

·        Assist customers by helping them pick out and carry bikes, canoes, kayaks and paddleboards to their vehicles.

HOURS AND PAY

 

·        Seasonal work: May - October

·        12-30 hours a week with a maximum of a 30 hour work week

·        Weekend work expected

·        $10.00/Hour to start, with seasonal adjustments and possible bonus

 

SALES ASSOCIATE SKILLS

 

·        2+ years’ retail sales experience preferred

·        High school diploma/GED preferred

·        High-energy, friendly personality and good work ethic.

·        Enjoyment of the outdoors and our area is preferred

·        Good listening skills - Capable of listening customers and showing them products and services that meet their needs

·        Basic addition and subtraction skills – Making change when needed

·        Computer skills – Square Point of Sale and FareHarbor reservations are a plus.

·        Willingness to become a subject matter expert on key adventures/locations in our area – Biking, Kayaking, Canoeing, Fishing Rafting, stand-up Paddleboards…etc.
